NEET 2027 exam date

NTA has not announced the NEET 2027 date yet. NEET is usually held on the first Sunday of May, as in each of the last four years below. A computer-based exam could be spread over more than one day, so treat any “expected” date as a guess until the bulletin is out.

The move to a computer-based test

The NEET 2026 paper held on 3 May 2026 was cancelled by NTA and re-held on 21 June 2026. On 15 May 2026 Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said NEET-UG would be a computer-based test from 2027, replacing the pen-and-paper OMR format. In September 2026 NTA asked AICTE to help identify government institutes that can host test centres.

Not announced yet: the date, how many shifts or days, whether scores will be normalised across shifts, and whether the number of questions or the time will change.

Pattern, syllabus, weightage and rank

The latest confirmed pattern (NEET 2025 and 2026) is 180 compulsory questions in 3 hours for 720 marks: Physics 45, Chemistry 45, Biology 90, with +4 for a right answer and −1 for a wrong one. See the full exam pattern for the history and a score calculator.

Suggested NEET 2027 preparation plan

A month-by-month outline from October 2026 to the exam. It is a suggestion, not a guarantee: speed it up or slow it down depending on how much of the syllabus you have covered. Adjust it once NTA confirms the date.

  1. October 2026Find your starting point

    • Take a diagnostic and list your chapters as strong, shaky or not started.
    • Fix a weekly timetable that touches Physics, Chemistry and Biology every week.
    • Start one PYQ a day so past-paper style becomes familiar.
  2. November 2026Weak chapters that carry many questions

    • Pick the shaky chapters that past papers ask most from and work on those first.
    • Read NCERT closely for Biology and Chemistry before solving questions.
    • Solve that chapter's PYQs straight after finishing it, and log every mistake.
  3. December 2026Keep covering, start full papers

    • Keep moving through the chapters you have not covered yet.
    • Sit one full-length paper a week under exam timing, for example the Sunday mock.
    • After each paper, spend as long reviewing mistakes as you spent writing it.
  4. January 2027Close the syllabus

    • Aim to have touched every chapter at least once by the end of the month.
    • Make short revision sheets: Physics formulae, Chemistry reactions and exceptions, Biology diagrams.
    • Keep the weekly full paper going.
  5. February 2027Bulletin, registration and boards

    • Watch neet.nta.nic.in for the NEET 2027 information bulletin (in 2026 it came out on 8 February) and register on time.
    • Read the bulletin for the confirmed date, pattern, shifts and syllabus, and adjust this plan.
    • If you have Class 12 board exams, put them first but keep some NEET questions every day.
  6. March 2027Revision round one

    • Revise subject by subject using your notes and mistake log, not new books.
    • Re-solve the PYQs you got wrong the first time.
    • Keep one full paper a week and track which chapters keep costing marks.
  7. April 2027Full papers and exam conditions

    • Move to two full papers a week if you can review both properly.
    • With a computer-based test announced, practise reading and answering questions on a screen.
    • Spend the gaps between papers on the chapters your mocks say are weakest.
  8. May 2027 until the examFinal weeks

    • Light revision of revision sheets and the mistake log; avoid starting new topics.
    • Download the admit card and check the centre and reporting time NTA gives you.
    • Keep your sleep and study hours in line with the exam timing.
